Salaga, June 11, 2026 — The Savannah Regional Health Directorate (SRHD) of the Ghana Health Service has announced an investigation into the disappearance of a newborn baby from the East Gonja District Hospital in Salaga.
According to a press release issued by the Directorate on Thursday, the incident occurred on June 10, 2026, prompting an immediate search within the hospital facility. However, the efforts failed to locate the baby, leading management to report the matter to the East Gonja District Police Command for further investigation.

The Regional Health Directorate expressed deep concern over the incident and extended its sympathies to the baby’s parents and family during what it described as a difficult and distressing period. “The Service extends its deepest sympathies to the parents and family of the baby and assures them of its full support as investigations continue,” the statement said.

Health authorities disclosed that they are working closely with the hospital management, the Ghana Police Service and other relevant stakeholders to determine the circumstances surrounding the disappearance and facilitate efforts to locate the missing newborn.
