Pearlpia Ladies FC has officially rebranded as Northern City Ladies FC as the club prepares to return to the Ghana Women’s Premier League for the 2025/2026 season.

Club PRO Mohammed Mutaka confirmed the name change on Zangali FM’s Sports BULLETIN, explaining it forms part of a broader rebranding strategy aimed at attracting fresh support and opportunities for the club.

“This is the second time we’ve changed names. We started as Lipo Ladies, became Pearlpia due to a Portuguese sponsorship, and now, with that deal over, we’re rebranding to open new doors,” Mutaka said.

The new name was recently approved by the GFA, following months of stakeholder consultation. According to the club, only the name, logo, and branding are changing, vision , core values and management remain intact.

Founded in 2006, the club has been a cornerstone of women’s football in Ghana, especially in the Northern Region. Known for their player development and contribution to the national talent pool, they suffered relegation in the 2023/2024 season but bounced back immediately by securing promotion the following year(2024/2025).

As they re-enter the Women’s Premier League next season, the club will no longer be known as Pearlpia Ladies or Lipo Ladies, but as Northern City Ladies FC.
