Yitilga Community Tournament Kicks Off with Thrilling Opening Match

The Yitilga Community Tournament’s maiden edition got underway in style on May 3, 2025, at the Kumbungu SHS field. The tournament’s opening match saw City Fc dominate Saakuba Fc with a resounding 5-1 victory, with Issah Abdul Razak of City Fc being named Man of the Match.

According to Mr. Salifu Abdullah, the tournament’s organizer, the primary aim of the Yitilga Community Tournament is to foster peace, unity, and togetherness among the people of Kumbungu and beyond. “We want to use this platform to bring our communities together and promote peaceful coexistence,” he said. Mr. Abdullah also urged clubs, supporters, and spectators to maintain good behavior before, during, and after the games to ensure a violence-free tournament.

A total of 8 teams are competing in the tournament, including City Fc, Wuba Fc, Saakuba Fc, Arsenals Fc, Bafana Fc, Kukuo Fc, and Eagles Fc. The winner will take home a giant trophy, medals, and a cash prize of Ghc1,000. The second-place team will receive medals and Ghc500, while the third-place team will be awarded two footballs. Additionally, individual awards will be given to outstanding players and coaches.

The tournament is set to conclude on June 8, 2025, and promises to be an annual event. Mr Abdullah hinted at plans for further improvements and investments in future editions, stating that the organizers are committed to making the tournament a flagship event in the community.
