Wa High Court Sentences Man to Life Imprisonment for Murder of Jirapa Dubai CEO

The Wa High Court has sentenced 33-year-old Elisha Mahama Akpanichie to life imprisonment for the murder of Mr. Eric Johnson, the Chief Executive Officer of the Royal Cosy Hills Hotel, popularly known as Jirapa Dubai, in the Upper West Region.

The tragic incident occurred on February 11, 2024. Following an intelligence-led police operation, the convict was arrested in the Central Region.

Delivering judgment, the presiding judge, Justice Alhaji Yussif Assibey, found Akpanichie guilty of murder, while two others Belinda Miller and Kweku Kumbata were acquitted and discharged for lack of evidence.

The ruling brings closure to a case that shocked the region and drew nationwide attention due to the prominence of the victim and the circumstances surrounding his death.
