TANKO BOWS OUT: Accra Lions Announces Change in Guard

Ghana Premier League Side, Accra Lions FC has announced that Head Coach Ibrahim Tanko has stepped down from his position, citing a desire to pursue other important projects. Tanko, who played a crucial role in the club’s growth and vision, officially handed over the reins to German trainer Rainer Kraft, marking a smooth transition of leadership.

The outgoing Coach expressed his gratitude and affection for the club, said: “I leave the role with immense pride, knowing that Accra Lions is more than just a club—it is family. While I am stepping away to focus on other projects, my bond with the team remains strong, and I will always be available to support the club in any way.”

The management of Accra Lions has praised Ibrahim Tanko’s contributions to the club, describing him as a “key pillar” in their journey. In a gesture of mutual respect, the management has left the door open for Tanko’s potential return, saying: “The door will always remain open for him to return and play a role in our journey of developing talent and achieving success.”

With Rainer Kraft at the helm, Accra Lions is poised to continue its upward trajectory, having gained promotion to the Ghana Premier League under his guidance in 2021. Kraft’s return is seen as a boost to the club, bringing with him vast experience and an understanding of the club’s mission to nurture talent and compete at the highest level.
