The Northern Regional Minister, Hon. Ali Adolf John Mburudiba, has reaffirmed the government’s support for youth development through sports as he officially opened the 23rd Northern Region Basic Schools Inter-District Sports Festival in Savelugu on Sunday July 27, 2025
Speaking at the ceremony, Hon. Ali Adolf highlighted the importance of sports in promoting discipline, patriotism, tolerance, and academic balance. He described the festival’s return as refreshing and called on the Regional Directorate of Education to collaborate closely with his office to overcome future challenges.
“Sports is no longer just about competition , it’s a tool for development,” he said.
The Minister pledged to donate 30 bags of rice to support the ongoing U-15 inter-district competition and warned students against drug use in sports, urging them to pursue excellence with integrity.
He commended the organizers for reviving the festival and expressed hope that selected athletes would excel at the upcoming National Sports Festival in Accra.
The event aims to develop young talent while fostering unity and a spirit of perseverance across the region.
