
Northern City Celebrate MTN FA Cup Victory Over Wa Power SC
Northern City Football Club secured a quarterfinals spot in the MTN FA Cup after defeating Wa Power SC 5-4 in a penalty shootout, following a 3-3 stalemate at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium on January 11 2025.
The Round of 32 clash saw both teams create numerous scoring opportunities, with Northern City ultimately emerging victorious in the shootout.
Wa Power SC took the lead three times during regulation, with goals from Tieh Alidus (28′), Israel Iddrissu (45′ and 61′). However, Northern City responded each time, equalizing through Zakaria Osman (29′ 63′ ), Mohammed Abdullah (46′),
Israel Iddrissu was awarded the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award, despite his team’s loss. His two goals and one assist earned him the recognition.
Wa Power SC’s MTN FA Cup journey has come to an end, while Northern City will progress to the quarterfinals, where they will face a yet-to-be-determined opponent.
The win marks a significant milestone for Northern City, who will look to build on this momentum as they advance in the competition.
With their MTN FA Cup fixture concluded, both teams will shift focus to their domestic league campaigns, with the Division One League Zone 1A week 13 games scheduled for next week.
