After a month-long hiatus, the Ghana Premier League is set to resume on the weekend of March 8-11, 2025. The league was put on hold following the tragic death of a Kotoko supporter, Naa Pooley, who was stabbed to death in Nsuatre.
Karela United center back, Maxwell Agyeman, has expressed his excitement about the league’s resumption. “I am very happy that the league is set to be resumed. It’s been a worry to us since the league was put on hold. Because you can’t be training without playing competitive matches. But now I’m happy it’s back,” Agyeman said.
Agyeman also revealed that Karela United is well-prepared for the league’s resumption. “We have used the break interval to beef up our preparations, looking at how hard we need to fight to better our position and survive the league. We have mend the challenges and set to return to the competition.”
Karela United, currently 16th on the Ghana Premier League log with 17 points, will face off against Basake Holy Stars on Sunday, March 9, 2025, at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium. Agyeman urged fans and supporters to come out and cheer the team to victory.
With the league’s resumption, stakeholders are hopeful that the measures put in place to curb hooliganism in Ghana football will be effective. The Ghana Premier League is expected to resume with renewed excitement and enthusiasm from fans and players alike.
