– The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced that all Division One League and Women’s Premier League games hosted by the GFA this weekend will feature black armbands and a minute’s silence in remembrance of Francis Yaw Frimpong, a deceased Asante Kotoko supporter.

Frimpong, popularly known as Nana Pooley, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2025, following a violent clash between Kotoko and Nsoatreman FC in the match week 18 of the 2024/2025 Ghana Premier League.

According to a press statement signed by GFA secretary Dr. Prosper Harrison Addo, the gesture is a mark of respect for the deceased and a condemnation of the violence that led to his death.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service has arrested six persons in connection with Frimpong’s death. An intelligence-led operation is still underway to apprehend the remaining perpetrators and ensure they face justice.

The GFA’s tribute is expected to be observed across all venues hosting Division One League and Women’s Premier League games this weekend.
