Coach Mohammed Bashiru Joe Baah has finally explained why he resigned from Sankara Nationals FC, just a few months into his two-year contract with the newly promoted Division One League side based in Yendi.
Speaking exclusively on Zaa Sports, Coach Joe Baah revealed that his premature departure was due to a clash in football philosophy between himself and the club’s management.
“I resigned because I didn’t want to be the problem of Sankara. My belief in what will bring success to the club contradicted what the majority of the team believed. In such a situation, it is better to take the back seat,” he Halid Mukadi.
His resignation fueled speculation that he may have been forced out due to pressure from fans or poor performance. However, he dismissed such claims, stressing that he had no issues with supporters, but rather with the club’s internal approach.He explained that what he considered necessary to build a successful side was not being implemented, making it difficult for him to continue.
The club’s Communication Officer, Shaibu Terry, speaking on Zangali 106.1 FM, confirmed there was no dispute between management and the coach. Instead, he attributed the exit to a misalignment in philosophy, direction, and attitude that both parties could not resolve.
Coach Joe Baah joined Sankara Nationals FC in June 2025 on a two-year deal. During his short stint, he managed six matches across all competitions ,winning four, drawing one, and losing one. In the Division One League, he recorded three wins, one draw, and one loss. He also led the team in their MTN FA Cup defeat to Berekum City.
Following his departure, the club has announced that Coach Francis Moari Bawumya will take over in an interim capacity until a substantive head coach is appointed.
