Real Tamale United (RTU) have officially named Bawa Mugis as the club’s new Media Officer, with the experienced communicator revealing why he finally agreed to take up the role after previously rejecting similar offers.

Speaking in an exclusive interview on Zangali 106.1 FM’s Sports Tonight show, Mugis disclosed that this is the third time the Pride of the North had reached out to him for the position. However, he declined the earlier approaches due to concerns about the club’s structures, as well as personal commitments to his education and work.

“This is not the first time I received an offer to work at Real Tamale United. This is the third time, but from different managements,” he explained.
“I declined the previous two chances because I wasn’t convinced with the structures of the club then, plus my education and work schedules were all factors I considered at the time.”

The respected media practitioner, who currently works with Sagani TV and has several years of experience in journalism and sports communications, said the timing is now right for him to serve the Pride of the North.

“I accepted this latest offer because I believe it’s the right time. I am done with school for now, and I’m impressed with the current structures at the club. I strongly believe they will allow me to operate effectively,” Mugis added.

Mugis’ appointment is expected to play a vital role in revamping the club’s communication strategy, fan engagement, and media relations as RTU aim to re-establish themselves as a powerhouse in Ghanaian football.

Real Tamale United-RTU are preparing for the upcoming Access Bank Division One League season schedule to start on September 26 2025 , RTU first game is against Sankara Nationals fc at the Aliu Mahama Sports stadium in Tamale on September 27 2025.
