As the 2025/2026 Northern Regional Division Two League kicks off, all 52 participating clubs will enjoy much-needed financial relief following a subsidy on officiating fees.
During the NRFA Congress at Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium on October 31 2025, CEO of Sankara Nationals FC, Alhaji Baba Daney, Through the regional football association Chairman Alhaji Abu Hassan Rhyzo announced that he will personally cover GHC50 of the GHC250 officiating fee for every group-stage match this season.

The initiative means each club stands to save between GHC600 and GHC800 during the group phase alone, easing the financial burden on teams as they prepare for another competitive campaign.The gesture has been widely welcomed by Division Two clubs, as officiating and operational costs remain major challenges for lower-tier sides. The intervention is expected to support participation and enhance the overall competitiveness of the league at it’s scheduled for November 08 kick Off.
Alhaji Daney’s Sankara Nationals were champions of the 2024/2025 NRFA Division Two League , secured promotion to the Access Bank Division One League this season. After five matches in the second tier, they have recorded three wins, one draw and one defeat, placing them third on their zonal table in what has been an impressive start to life in Division One.
