A shocking scandal has rocked Womanafo Mighty Royals, a Division One League side, as former Head Coach Abu Hanan has come forward with allegations of unfair treatment and mismanagement by the club.
In a stunning revelation, Hanan claimed that the club owed him four months’ worth of pay and failed to provide basic necessities, including a team doctor, goalkeeper trainer, and assistant coach. But what’s even more alarming is that the players are being owed a staggering seven months’ worth of salaries.
Despite being on track to achieve the club’s goal of qualifying from their zone, Hanan was suddenly sacked without receiving his owed salary. The players, who are mostly not from the local area, are struggling to make ends meet without their salaries.
“I was unfairly treated by the club,” Hanan said. “I thought it wise to distance myself from the club because I didn’t want to be blamed for any poor results due to this unhealthy treatment. But instead of addressing the issues, the club issued my sacking letter without even paying me my arrears.”
Hanan’s allegations have raised serious concerns about the club’s management and its treatment of staff and players. The incident has sparked outrage, with many calling for accountability and fair treatment of coaches and players.
As Hanan aptly put it, “It’s high time club admins understand management problems and technical problems.” Will Womanafo Mighty Royals take responsibility for their actions and address their deep-rooted problems, or will they continue to neglect their staff and players?
Coach Abu Hannan took over as the head coach of the club during the beginning of the 2024/2025 league season, and was sacked on February 24 2025 .
Mighty Royals are currently 6th on the Division One League Zone 1B table with 22 points after 17 round of games.
