Alhaji Abu Hassan Rhyzo, Chairman of the Northern Regional Football Association (NRFA), has commended Baba Daney, CEO of Dasuma Radio, for initiating the Dasuma Radio Clan Soccer Tournament.
The NRFA boss expressed his excitement and admiration for the organizers, particularly Alhaji Baba Daney, who has single-handedly sponsored the tournament for six years, promoting unity, peace, and love among the people of Dagbon.
“Organizing and sponsoring this tournament for six years without major sponsorship is no easy feat,” Alhaji Rhyzo said. “Mr. Daney’s dedication to fostering peace, unity, and unearthing talents is commendable. I encourage everyone, especially those who are financially stable, to support this tournament and make it even bigger.”
The NRFA Chairman made these remarks during the closing ceremony of the 2024 edition of the tournament, where Lungsi clan emerged as champions after defeating Laabangsi clan 4-2 on penalties.
Alhaji Rhyzo also advised young footballers to avoid drug abuse and instead focus on serious training and hard work to succeed in the soccer business.
The Dasuma Radio Clan Soccer Tournament, which began in 2019, aims to promote peace, love, and unity in Dagbon and beyond through sports. The tournament has discovered talented young footballers, many of whom now play outside Dagbon.
After six editions, Lungsi clan has won the tournament three times (2019, 2023, and 2024), while Mohi clan won it twice (2021 and 2022), and Laabangsi clan won it in 2020.
With six successful editions the tournament is expected to continue growing, attracting More teams and talents, and promoting Unity and development in the region and beyond.
