The Northern Regional Football Association (NRFA) has successfully launched the 2024/2025 U-15 Girls League, marking a significant milestone in the development of women’s football in the region. The event took place at the Kulikuli School Astro Turf in Tamale on Wednesday, April 9, 2025.

Ten qualified U-15 girls’ clubs will participate in this year’s league, an improvement from the eight clubs that participated in the maiden edition in 2023/2024. The clubs include Talented Ladies, Din-Nani Ladies, Northern Angels, Rising Sporting Club, Suhuyini Ladies, Simli Ladies, Golden Maidens, Dakpema Ladies, Tamale Future Ladies, and Tamale Vision Ladies.

According to the NRFA Chairman, Alhaji Abu Hassan Rhyzo, the league is a step in the right direction, with more clubs participating this season. “This is the second in a series, last year we experimented with the maiden edition, which was the first of its kind in Ghana. Since then, there has been improvement. Instead of the 8 that participated in the maiden edition, we have 10 this season. This means girls’ football is growing up, and a lot of people are beginning to develop interest in it.”

The 2024/2025 season is set to kick off on Sunday, April 13, 2025, with top-performing clubs eligible for promotion to the NRFA Women’s Division 1B. A trophy and cash prizes will be awarded to deserving winners. The league aims to groom the next generation of female footballers for the country and the world at large, creating opportunities for girls in the sports fraternity.
