Accomplished cyclist James Kumbeni has announced Yendi, the capital of Northern Dagbon, as the next destination on his Nationwide Climate Action Cycling Tour.
Kumbeni, based in Bolga, has been traversing Ghana on his bicycle to raise awareness about climate change and promote sustainable transportation. His recent stop was in the Upper West Region.
“I’m thrilled to announce Yendi as my next destination,” Kumbeni exclaimed. “This journey is about highlighting cycling’s critical role in combating climate change, celebrating Ghana’s stunning tourism attractions, and showcasing our rich cultural heritage.”

Moroccan Dreams
Previously, Kumbeni revealed on ZANGALI SPORTS TONIGHT his plans to take his cycling journey to the next level by touring Morocco by the end of 2025.
“I’ve toured the whole of Ghana; now Morocco is the dream destination for me,” he said. “I’m eager to explore its diverse landscapes and cultures on two wheels.”
Kumbeni acknowledged the challenges he faces as a cyclist in Ghana, including stereotypes, safety concerns, lack of support, and limited infrastructure.
“It’s tough navigating through busy roads, but I believe education and awareness can change attitudes,” he emphasized.
Despite these obstacles, Kumbeni remains committed to promoting cycling’s numerous benefits.
“Cycling improves physical and mental health, saves money, and doesn’t pollute our environment,” he stressed. “I want to encourage others to join the movement.”
Kumbeni appealed for support from individuals, organizations, and government institutions to make his Moroccan adventure a success.
“Any assistance, whether financial, logistical, or moral, would be greatly appreciated,” he said.
As Ghana continues to grapple with environmental and health concerns, Kumbeni’s cycling advocacy serves as a timely reminder of sustainable transportation options.
