ELECTION 2024: Independent Candidate Hon Hussein(Wundaba Naa) Hails Defeat of Farouk Aliu Mahama
Hon Hussein Abdul Karim(Wundaba Naa), an independent candidate in the Yendi Constituency election, has expressed his delight over the defeat of incumbent MP Farouk Aliu Mahama.
In an interview with Zangali FM, Hon Hussein revealeds Aliu Mahama had consistently opposed him during assembly member elections, even sponsoring opponents to contest against him. However, Hussein boasts of having defeated Mahama’s backed candidates three times.
This time around, Hussein’s primary goal was not to win the election but to ensure Mahama’s defeat. “Farouk Aliu Mahama during his tenure can’t boast of any developmental projects for Yendi, even with the MPs common fund, except lies and disunity,” Hussein alleged. “So, the people stood against him.”
Farouk Mahama, who lost the seat to NDC’s Abdul-Fatawu Alhassan Jofa, had earlier commended the people of Yendi for their trust in him over the past four years. However, Hussein’s sentiments suggest that Mahama’s performance did not resonate with everyone.
Hon Hussein has pledged to work with the newly elected MP, Fatawu Joofa, for the betterment of the constituency and its people. With Joofa securing 30,707 votes against Mahama’s 29,819, the people of Yendi have spoken, and a new era of leadership has begun .
