Ghana’s Black Maidens have qualified for the Round of 16 at the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco after securing a 2-0 victory over Canada in their final Group C match.

Linda Achiaa opened the scoring in the 65th minute before Christina Ashiaku added a second in the 90+5th minute to seal Ghana’s first win of the tournament.

The victory comes after head coach Nana Adarkwa declared ahead of the decisive fixture: “We have no option but to beat Canada.”

The Maidens responded with a crucial performance, finishing the group stage with four points following a 3-0 defeat to Norway, a 3-3 draw against Brazil and the win over Canada.

The qualification marks another milestone in Ghana’s seventh appearance at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, as the team advances to the knockout stage in Morocco.
