Wa Power Sporting Club has capped off a successful 2025/26 football season, recording impressive results across its senior and youth teams while producing several award-winning players in the Upper West Region.
The club’s senior side finished third in Division One League Zone 1A with 42 points, ending the campaign among the top-performing teams in the zone.
At the youth level, Wa Power SC continued its impressive development of young talents. The club’s U-15 team emerged champions of the Upper West Regional Football Association U-15 League after collecting 28 points from 11 matches. The U-17 side also enjoyed a strong campaign, finishing third in the Upper West Regional U-17 League with 29 points from 12 games.
The club’s success was further reflected in the individual awards secured by its players at the end of the season.
In the U-17 category, Samwini Benjamin was named Best Player following a series of outstanding performances throughout the campaign. Forward Issahaku Ma-asum emerged as the league’s top scorer and Goal King with six goals, while Bassona Oswald was adjudged the Best Goalkeeper with 10 clean sheets in 12 games.
For the U-15 team, Alhassan Mutawakil was recognized as the league’s Best Player after playing a key role in Wa Power SC’s title-winning season.
Earlier in the season, the club also received national recognition when three of its players earned selection into the Ghana Football Association’s National U-17 Scouting Programme held in the Upper West Region. The selected players were Alhassan Mutawakil (outfield player), Suleman Rashid (goalkeeper), and Issahaku Mansur, highlighting the quality of talent being developed at the club.
The achievements underline Wa Power SC’s growing reputation as one of the leading football development clubs in the Upper West Region and beyond. With strong performances from the senior team, success in youth competitions, national scouting recognition, and multiple individual awards, the club has reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing the next generation of football talent.
